Steve Free Interview

We recently sat down for an excellent interview with Steve Free who performed several excellent songs for us. The audio clip is posted above and can also be found in our right-column audio streamer. Here is a little information about Steve Free:

Steve Free has been called by Cashbox magazine "one of the most diverse artists on today's American scene."

The singer/songwriter/recording artist is an award-winning musician who has blended his Applachian and Native American roots into a sound that has brought him national acclaim.

Recording with Fraternity Records, he has placed three songs on national charts. "Seige at Lucasville" reached No. 57 on the Cashbox top 100 charts in 1994, and "Theresa Eyes" rose to No. 58 in 1994.


"Ridin' The Rails" hit No. 52 on the National Weekly Country Charts in 1996.

Friends in the Wind rose to No.7 in the International Independent Country / Folk Charts in 2001.

Steve has won numerous music industry awards, including five ASCAP songwriting awards and was named Songwriter of the Year in 1996 by the Academy of Independent Recording Artists.

Steve continues to play coffeehouses, arts centers, and schools throughout the Tri-State area and the Midwest. In the summer with his band, he can be seen at many fairs and festivals in the region, where he has earned a reputation as a "good-time audience participation" performer.
